Life lessons by the handful. So we’ve gone through a bit of a hard time lately. Car accident that was ruled “at fault” for a vehicle malfunction, loss of a job, Chelsea’s visit to the hospital, All among other things. Seems like Philadelphia is trying to make us stay! If anything it is truly making me want to stay here less. So we are pushing forward and trying to make our way out.
I have discovered something called the Trans-American-Trail. Its a path put together by single tread off-roaders that wanted to travel across the country on NO pavement. Meaning the entire trail is gravel, dirt, or entirely off road. Plans are being made for us to take this course, as one of the first few 4×4 vehicles to be able to travel on it. Of course this new plan requires quite a bit of work to prepare and we are forging ahead doing the best we can. We have all the excitement in the world to experience the true american heartland.

We have taken crowd funding into consideration, but are having some issues with it morally, possibly try and do something to give back in any way possible if we can. I have an idea of sending donators prints from the trip that I will be photographing with my good old Pentax k1000. I will keep this blog updated though and hopefully things go as planned!

LOL,thanks (on the congrats)…mine (blog) is often dusty,and rarely has anything with real meat to it,just my rambling thoughts (and having a healthy case of adult ADHD…. 😛 ).
I’m REALLY hoping to do something like this (your trip) myself one day. For now,with a daughter graduating high school next year,a son who doesn’t want to be home-schooled or go on the trip,and a Wife who doesn’t exactly share my adventurous spirit….it will have to wait a bit 😛 For now,I try to get out for a little bike-packing (like backpacking but on a mtn bike) and day or weekend Jeep trips when I’m able to (I’m “legally disabled” with some 13 year old fairly serious spinal injuries…but I have lots of good days to offset the “bad ones” 😉 ). Actually,as I sit here,with my 41st b-day coming up Monday after next (23rd),I’m trying to make decision between a weekend biking trip deeper into TN,or a Jeep-camping trip to an OHV park in KY next weekend (I/we will do one next weekend,and the other the following,so it really doesn’t matter…). I’m really excited to live vicariously through YOUR trip,my friend,really looking forward to reading/seeing all about it. BTW,that was me who commented on your thread about the Sami on the forum (I’m someone else everywhere it seems,hahaha! “Singlespeed92” on most forums,cycling or Jeeping 😉 )

Coming up with things to write is really hard! Being consistent is a whole other commitment in itself. Haha, that’s probably rob on the expedition portal forum. He’s been putting in so much work into “Bumi.” We’re very lucky to share the same passion, but it’s also nice to have something of your own. Kids take awhile to warm up to it. But it’s never too late! There is a story of a man who moved out into the woods in his 70/80s. I’ll find it for you!
I’m sorry about your spinal injury. If you’d like, you could message me privately about it. I want to become a physical therapist so I’m always interested to hear about this kinda stuff. Glad to hear you still have good days though.

As for Moonlight….LOL,I may not have mentioned,she doesn’t do very well with other dogs or strangers. We’ve socialized the heck out of her,but she still seems untrusting of people. My opinion is (knowing my grandpa like I do…) during the 2-3 months her and her litter-mate were pretty much “on their own” on our property where the house burned (where my grand parents lived next door,and were supposed to be watching over/feeding the two dogs until we could secure a new home and come get them) she was possibly abused a bit by him,as she does seem to deal better with women and children. I will definitely bring her and we can play by ear how much outside-of-Jeep time she gets,LOL! She’s warmed up to the 2-3 kids here that come in to play with my son,but it took several months, LOL,I always say “she’s the sweetest,most loving and affectionate,fun loving dog I’ve ever known (and she is,BTW),but unless we put it on Youtube,NO ONE would believe it whose met her” 😛
